Spiritual Breakthrough

Far be it for me to sit here and use this time that I have with you to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. Your beliefs are your own as are mine. I’d be more than glad to get into a philosophical discussion about it over a few beers sometime, if you’d like (just give me a ring…Jesus drank wine, why can’t we have a brew?).

But, today wasn’t really about me. I went down with my mom, my dad and my daughter to Greenup, KY today. The goal of the 6 hour round trip was to witness (and film) my uncle getting baptised and accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal saviour.

Whatever your beliefs, it’s hard to deny that there was some kind of spiritual force in the room. It was damn near palpable. And as my uncle was finishing and getting a towel (the bapistry is a big tub thing…), my cousin felt the call and SHE got baptised, too. It was pretty cool.

It was a good day. A day with family and a day of celebrating life.
All in all very cool.

And then it was a day to nap on the way home.

  1. I must comment on the wine/brew comment…I TOTALLY CONCUR!!! I had an \”arguement\” with an ex-girlfriend over this very subject. She said to me, \”On Easter, I recommitted my heart to Jesus and I want you to do the same and stop drinking\”. My reply was, \”was does recommitment have to do with drinking? Remember, Jesus\’ FIRST miracle was to turn water into wine and lest you think that it was grape juice, do a quick review of traditional jewish custom and you\’ll find that marriages often lasted for as long as 7 days. After everyone was drunk, then they brought out the cheap stuff. But hear the words of St. John 2: \”the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, 10: And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.\” Jesus made the BOMB-DIGGITY wine! There are scriptual prohibitions about drunkenness, NOT drinking!\” That didn\’t fly too well with her but what the hell, I\’ll have that brew with you!…since you refused to preach, I did it for you 🙂
